Hiking to the Supermarket

The tour is cancelled today. No wonder, the weather outside is not exactly inviting. The sky is covered in grey, and a drizzle falls on the town. It’s the weather where I would usually cuddle myself into a blanket on the sofa with a hot chocolate and a book. But at some point today, I will have to go to the supermarket and the one with both the best selection and the best price is outside of town, 1.7km to walk. One-way.

Not what I expected from such a small town.

Or as one of my flatmates always says, „I’m going for a hike. To the supermarket.“

So I put on my hiking boots, pull the hood of my hardshell jacket over my head and grab my small hiking backpack. As bad as the rain might seem from inside, as soon as you set your feet outside, it is actually quite alright. Somehow, it feels good to take a deep breath of the cold ocean air and to feel the fresh breeze around my face. Maybe a hiking vacation might be something for me after all? Walking from cabin to cabin only with the things you can carry in your backpack. I’m sure my boyfriend would love it if he could finally win me over for this.
